Switzerland: More money for school sports camps? – Swiss

Schools are expected to receive additional grants to continue organizing sports camps. Like its counterpart in Council of States, the education commission of National council hopes that contributions will be raised from 7.60 francs to 16 francs a day at most, announced Friday the services of the Parliament.

The Federal Council for its part proposed to increase their amount to 12 francs per person per day. Responsibility for compulsory school activities is the responsibility of the cantons. However, compulsory school sports camps supported by the Confederation are a special case if they are organized according to the rules established by Jeunesse et Sport.

The issue was discussed because of a Federal Court ruling that everything related to compulsory basic education is free. This ruling specifies that the school can only invoice parents for meals taken outside the home, ie 16 francs per day. The increase in subsidies must compensate for the decline in parental participation. (Ps / nxp)
