Swiss test against Croatia and Belgium in Qatar at the end of March

Vladimir Petkovic’s team will meet Croatia World Cup finalists Croatia on March 26 and Belgium third on March 30 at a four-country tournament in the host country of 2022.
The fourth participant is Portugal, the European champion of 2016 and winner of the Nations League, which was held for the first time. The Portuguese play against Belgium (March 27) and Croatia (March 30).
“The fact that Switzerland is playing with Croatia and Belgium against two countries that were at the 2018 World Cup in the final and semi-final, respectively, reflects our international status,” Petkovic is quoted in a message from the SFV. “Such games would not have been possible a few years ago.”
Switzerland have only played three international matches against Croatia – and have not yet lost one. The Swiss played much more against Belgium. The last duel with the number 1 in the FIFA World Ranking will be particularly remembered. In November 2018, the Petkovic team won 5-2 in the Nations League against the “Red Devils” in Lucerne after a 2-2 deficit.
The first two international matches in 2020 are already in preparation for the European Championship finals that begin in June, when Switzerland will meet Wales, Italy and Turkey in Baku and Rome. Immediately before the European Championship, the SFV selection contested two friendly matches against Germany (in Basel) and Liechtenstein (in St. Gallen).
