Back to the 90s: in Italy a festival with Aqua, Eiffel 65 and Vengaboys


Aqua have gained public attention since 1997 thanks to their first album, entitled “Aquarium ‘” and immediately become a sensational pop phenomenon. The disc contains the singles “Barbie Girl” (141 million streams on Spotify and 702.7 million video views on YouTube), “Roses are Red”, “My Oh My”, “Doctor Jones” and ‘Turn Back Time “, recognized and loved by an entire generation who follows the group on its planetary tours, full of extravagance “Aquarius” which contains the hits “Cartoon Heroes” and “Around the World” ‘. Subsequently, they decide to take a break. Until 2009, when they get back together to publish a ‘Greatest Hits’, a project that includes two new ones: “Back to the 80’s” and “My Mamma Said”. The third studio album, “Megalomania”, was released in 2011 and marks the turning point of the band converted to new sounds and a more modern electro-pop. With over 30 million copies sold all over the world, Aqua represent one of the biggest pop bands to which Denmark has ever been born, establishing itself among the most internationally recognized artists, thanks to their music.

Eiffel 65, one of the bands symbol of Italian dance music, was formed in the 90s by the meeting of Jeffrey Jey, Maury Lobina and Gabry Ponte. Their debut single, titled “Blue Da Ba Dee” (platinum certificate) immediately reaches an incredible success and consecrates them stars of the Italian and international panorama of disco music. The song reaches the top position in the dance charts in various countries including England and the United States and, following these results, concerts all over the world, together with the publication of the first two albums, “Europop” (1999) and “Contact!” (2001). Since then, they sell over 15 million records, becoming one of the Italian bands to have sold multiple albums worldwide. In 2002 they released their first song in Italian entitled “What will remain”, which anticipates the release of the third self-titled album. After a few years of pause, during which the individual members carry out solo projects, Eiffel 65 are back in 2016 with a new single called “Panico” and continue to perform live all over the world.

Lastly, the Vengaboys, a Dutch Europop group consisting of Cowboy Donny, Captain Kim, Partygirl D’Nice and Sailorboy Robin. The history of the band began in the early 90s, during some DJ sets: it was the beach parties in Ibiza that brought the members together, who in the following years decided to create something concrete. The first international success is “Up & Down”, single released in March 1997, which quickly reaches the world rankings, positioning itself at the top of the Billboard Dance Chart. The debut album, titled “The Party Album!” and released a year later, the band earned a MTV Best Breakthrough nomination. Since then they have released hits that have entered the history of world pop-dance music, such as “We Like To Party!”, “Boom Boom Boom Boom”, “We’re Going to Ibiza!”, “Shalala lala” and “Kiss (When the Sun don’t shine) “.
