TPG: Elected officials want more buses on line 34 – News Geneva: Geneva news

We are touching a bus timetable and it is the daily life of many users who switch. This is the case of line 34, which links Veyrier-Tournettes to the locality of Chevrier (Choulex) in less than three quarters of an hour. The schedule change of December 15, 2019 obviously involved the removal of a large number of buses on this section.

A draft resolution signed by all the Veyrite political groups, and accepted without surprise unanimously, asks the cantonal authorities and the Board of Directors of TPG to restore the previous timetable, or at least to adapt it.

In fact, a large number of pupils in the town use this line daily to go to their schools on the Left Bank: the colleges of Claparede, Candolle, the ECG Jean Piaget and the Moser school. Thus, according to the count of elected officials, the Veyrier-École stop “was served eleven times between 6:10 am and 8:46 am, now between 6:21 am and 8:52 am, there are only six buses left, one almost 50% decrease. Likewise at the end of the day, with the old timetable between 3 p.m. and 6:54 p.m., there were fifteen buses and now, between 3:07 p.m. and 6:54 p.m., there are only nine left. ”

Connections from line 41, the timetable of which has not been changed, now require long waiting times. “This forces the Vessy students to take a bus earlier so as not to miss their connection and wait fifteen minutes at the Tournettes”, illustrates the document. It is noted that many young people “simply do not have the opportunity to return home at noon” and that some of them are ultimately driven by their parents since the changes. A modal shift unlike the desired effects, regret the city councilors. PLR elected official Olivier Duc mentioned delays of ten to fifteen minutes and his colleague from the Veyrier Ensemble Party, Joel Jousson, added that “parents do not have to make up for the shortcomings of GPTs, this is not admissible” . Recalling that in parallel, the lines of line 8 Tournettes and line 49 are also disputed. According to socialist Bernard Pinget, “it should be a principle not to decrease the bus offer, it turns out to be completely counterproductive”.
